Thylacine

Le thylacine, également appelé loup marsupial, loup de Tasmanie ou tigre de Tasmanie (en palawa kani : kaparunina, nom scientifique : Thylacinus cynocephalus), est un mammifère carnivore de la taille d’un loup, au pelage tigré. Ce marsupial n'appartient pas à l'ordre placentaire des Carnivora et n'est donc pas un Canidé, mais à l'ordre des Dasyuromorphia. Depuis 1936, l’espèce est considérée comme éteinte ; cependant les amateurs de cryptozoologie ont espéré prouver la présence de thylacines en Tasmanie en 2013, puis plus récemment en 2017 et en 2018.

The thylacine ( THY-luh-seen; binomial name Thylacinus cynocephalus), also commonly known as the Tasmanian tiger, Tasmanian wolf or marsupial wolf is an extinct species of carnivorous marsupial which was native to the Australian mainland and the islands of Tasmania and New Guinea. The thylacine died out in New Guinea and mainland Australia around 3,600–3,200 years ago, possibly because of the introduction of the dingo, whose earliest record dates to around the same time, but which never reached Tasmania. Before European settlement, around 5,000 remained in the wild on the island of Tasmania.

El tilacino (Thylacinus cynocephalus), también conocido como lobo de Tasmania, lobo marsupial, tigre de Tasmania o tilacín, fue un marsupial carnívoro originado en el Holoceno. Era nativo de Australia, Tasmania y Nueva Guinea y se cree que se extinguió en el siglo XX. Se trataba del último miembro viviente de su género (Thylacinus), cuyos otros miembros vivieron en tiempos prehistóricos a partir de principios del Mioceno.
