Titanostrombus galeatus est une espèce de mollusques gastéropodes de la famille des Strombes. Systématique L'espèce Titanostrombus galeatus a été décrite pour la première fois en 1823 par le zoologiste britannique William Swainson (1789-1855) sous le protonyme Strombus galeatus. Distribution On rencontre ce strombe sur la côte est du Pacifique, depuis le golfe de Californie jusqu'au Pérou.

Titanostrombus galeatus, the Eastern Pacific giant conch, is a species of large sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Strombidae, the true conchs and their allies. It is an eastern Pacific species that occurs from the Gulf of California to Peru. The shells of this species were used as a wind instruments by the Chavín, an ancient civilization from the northern Andean highlands of Peru.

Titanostrombus galeatus (Swainson, 1823), previamente Strombus galeatus y Lobatus galeatus, es una especie de caracol marino comestible muy grande, un molusco gastrópodo marino de la familia Strombidae. Las conchas de esta especie fueron utilizadas como instrumentos de viento por varias culturas de Sudamérica, especialmente Chavín,​ una antigua civilización de las tierras altas andinas del norte del Perú. Todavía se usan para este propósito en los Andes, donde se les conoce como pututu.
