Astyanax brevimanus, sometimes referred to as the Quiché tetra, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Acestrorhamphidae, the American characins. This fish is found in various locales in Guatemala. Its native range is somewhat restricted, but it is a populous and adaptable species, so there is no risk of it going extinct anytime soon.

Los escamudos (Profundulus) es un género, el único incluido en la familia Profundulidae, de peces de agua dulce incluida en el orden Cyprinodontiformes. Su nombre viene del latín profundus, que significa profundo. Se distribuyen por ríos de las vertientes atlántica y pacífica de Centroamérica en México, Guatemala y Honduras.
