Xeropicta derbentina

Xeropicta derbentina, l’Hélicelle des Balkans, est une espèce de gastéropodes de la famille des Geomitridae. Description Selon l'étude réalisée par le malacologiste italien Willy de Mattia (d) en 2007, les spécimens de Xeropicta derbentina collectés en Italie et en Croatie présentaient une coquille d'un diamètre compris entre 9,5 et 15,9 mm et une hauteur de 5,5 à 10,9 mm. La coquille de Xeropicta derbentina est uniformément blanche à blanc jaunâtre clair et ne présente aucune tache ou rayure.

Xeropicta is a genus of small air-breathing land snails, pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the subfamily Helicellinae of the family Geomitridae, the hairy snails and their allies. Distribution The distribution of the genus Xeropicta includes south-eastern Europe to Near East and north-eastern Africa. Species in this genus have not yet become established in the US, but they are considered to represent potentially serious threats as pests, invasive species which could negatively affect agriculture, natural ecosystems, human health or commerce.
