Mourning Dove

La Tourterelle triste ou Tourterelle de la Caroline (Zenaida macroura) est une espèce d'oiseaux appartenant à la famille des Columbidae, dont la répartition géographique va de l'Amérique centrale au sud du Canada et inclut une partie des Caraïbes. Les individus situés au nord de cette zone migrent vers le sud lorsque les températures descendent au-dessous de 12 degrés Celsius. Son habitat comprend des environnements ouverts et semi-ouverts, incluant les régions agricoles et urbaines.

The bird is also known as the American mourning dove, the rain dove, and colloquially as the turtle dove, and it was once known as the Carolina pigeon and Carolina turtledove. It is one of the most abundant and widespread North American birds and a popular gamebird, with more than 20 million birds (up to 70 million in some years) shot annually in the U.

La huilota común, también denominada tórtola rabiche, torcaza o guilota, (Zenaida macroura) es una especie de ave columbiforme de la familia Columbidae perteneciente al género Zenaida. Es natural de América. Es de tamaño mediano con color gris en la frente y la nuca, pardo grisáceo detrás del cuello y plumas metálicas con violeta y bronce a ambos lados.
