Common Rock Rat

Le Zyzomys argurus est un petit rongeur australien de la famille des Muridae. C'est une espèce encore abondante, contrairement à d'autres espèces du genre Zyzomys, dont certaines, comme le Zyzomys palatilis, sont en danger d'extinction. Elle est appelée common rock rat ou silver-tailed rock rat par les anglophones.

The common rock rat (Zyzomys argurus) is a species of rodent in the family Muridae. It is found only in Australia, where it lives in the rocky areas of woodlands, grasslands and low open forests, particularly on the talus, or scree, of cliff slopes. As a nocturnal animal, it spends the daytime nesting in cool rock crevices.

Zyzomys es un género de roedor, que se caracteriza por poseer una cola inusualmente larga y gruesa. Incluye cinco especies, todas originarias de Australia, donde son conocidas como las ratas coligordas. Fueron descubiertas por Michael Rogers Oldfield Thomas en 1909.
