Subarctic Darner

Aeshna subarctica (nom vernaculaire : æschne subarctique), est une espèce de libellules anisoptères de la famille des Aeshnidae. Description et caractéristiques Son corps atteint 70 à 76 mm de long. Très proche de l'æschne des joncs (Aeshna juncea), elle s'en distingue par une coloration plus sombre et plus terne.

Aeshna subarctica, the subarctic darner or bog hawker, is a species of dragonfly belonging to the family Aeshnidae, the darners and hawkers. This holarctic dragonfly is found in Europe and Northern Asia (excluding China) and North America. Taxonomy Aeshna subarctica was first formally described in 1908 by the Canadian entomologist Edmund Murton Walker with its type locality given as Nipigon, Ontario.

Aeshna es un género de aguaciles o libélulas, odonatos anisópteros de la familia Aeshnidae distribuidos por la región Holártica. El nombre Aeshna fue acuñado por el entomólogo danés Johan Christian Fabricius en el siglo XVIII. El nombre puede ser el resultado de un error de imprenta en la ortografía del griego Aechma, traducido como "una lanza".
