Olinguito

Bassaricyon neblina, communément appelé l’Olinguito, mot signifiant en espagnol « petit olingo », est une espèce de mammifères du genre Bassaricyon et de la famille des Procyonidés. Découvert en 2013, il vit dans le nord des Andes. Description Comme tous les Procyonidés, l'Olinguito est omnivore.

The olinguito (Bassaricyon neblina) is a mammal of the raccoon family Procyonidae that lives in montane forests in the Andes of western Colombia and Ecuador. It was classified as belonging to a new species in 2013. The specific name neblina is Spanish for fog or mist, referring to the cloud forest habitat of the olinguito.

El olinguito (Bassaricyon neblina) es una especie de mamífero carnívoro perteneciente a la familia Procyonidae. Es nativo de los Andes del norte de América del Sur, principalmente en Colombia y Ecuador. La especie fue descrita científicamente en 15 de agosto de 2013 por un equipo de investigadores del Instituto Smithsoniano.
