Shortfin Searobin

Bellator is a genus of marine ray-finned fishes belonging to the family Triglidae, one of two genera belonging to the subfamily Prionotinae, the sea robins. These fishes are found in the Western Atlantic Ocean and eastern Pacific Ocean, in the waters off both North and South America. Las vacas y rubios o escarchos son la familia Triglidae de peces marinos incluida en el orden Scorpaeniformes, distribuidos por mares y estuarios de todas las aguas templadas y tropicales del mundo. ​ Su nombre procede del griego trigla = salmonete rojo (por su parecido con este pez). ​ Aparecen por primera vez en el registro fósil en el Eoceno, durante el Terciario inferior.
