Northern Flicker

Le Pic flamboyant (Colaptes auratus) est une espèce d'oiseaux appartenant à la famille des Picidae. Il est commun en Amérique du Nord et dans certaines parties d'Amérique centrale, on peut également le retrouver à Cuba et aux Îles Caïmans ; il s'agit d'un des rares pics qui migrent. Étymologie Le pic flamboyant est classé dans le genre Colaptes, qui vient du verbe grec colapt, piquer.

The northern flicker or common flicker (Colaptes auratus) is a medium-sized bird of the woodpecker family. It is native to most of North America, parts of Central America, Cuba, and the Cayman Islands, and is one of the few woodpecker species that migrate. Over 100 common names for the northern flicker are known, including yellowhammer (not to be confused with the Eurasian yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)), clape, gaffer woodpecker, harry-wicket, heigh-ho, wake-up, walk-up, wick-up, yarrup, and gawker bird.

El carpintero escapulario o carpintero de pechera (Colaptes auratus),​ es una especie de ave que habita la mayor parte de América del Norte, América Central, Cuba y Gran Caimán. Pertenece a la familia Picidae del orden Piciformes. Nombres En griego Colaptes es “cincel”, auratus en latín es “dorado” por el color bajo las alas y chrysocaulosus “de cola enrollada”.
