Yellow Pike-conger

The yellow pike conger (Congresox talabon) is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Muraenesocidae, the pike congers. This fish is found in the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. Taxonomy The yellow pike conger was first formally described as Conger talabon in 1829 by the French naturalist, zoologist and paleontologist Georges Cuvier with its type locality given as Vizagapatnam in India.

Los murenesócidos (Muraenesocidae) son una familia de peces teleósteos del orden Anguilliformes conocidos vulgarmente como congrios picudos o morenocios, distribuidos por zonas tropicales de los océanos Atlántico, Índico y Pacífico, con algunas especies en agua dulce. ​ Su nombre procede del latín muraena (el pez morena) + del griego esox (alevín del salmón). ​ Aparecen por primera vez en el registro fósil en el Eoceno inferior, durante el Terciario inferior.
