Japanese Rubyfish

Erythrocles est un genre de poissons marins de l'ordre des Perciformes, de la famille des Emmelichthyidae.

The Japanese rubyfish (Erythrocles schlegelii) also known as the Pacific rover or dusky rover, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Emmelichthyidae, the rovers, bonnetmouths and rubyfishes. This fish is found in the Indian and western Pacific Oceans. Taxonomy The Japanese rubyfish was first formally described as Emmelichthys schlegelii by the Scottish naval surgeon, naturalist and Arctic explorer Sir John Richardson with its type locality given as Nagasaki.

Los andorreros (familia Emmelichthyidae) es una familia de peces marinos incluida en el orden Perciformes. Viven principalmente en clima cálido a tropical, en el océano Índico, sur del Pacífico, este del Atlántico y en el mar Caribe, a una profundidad los adultos entre 100 y 400 m. ​ Tienen la mandíbula muy protusible, sin dientes o casi sin ellos, con huesos maxilar y supramaxilar bien desarrollados y grandes cartílagos en el rostro.
