Arctic Loon

Le Plongeon arctique (Gavia arctica), aussi appelé au Québec Huart arctique, est une espèce d'oiseaux de la famille des Gaviidae. Il est de taille moyenne, et est parfois confondu avec le Plongeon huard (Gavia immer). Morphologie C'est un oiseau presque aussi gros qu'une oie, mesurant de 58 à 73 cm et pesant en moyenne 2,5 kg pour les femelles, et 3,5 kg pour les mâles.

The black-throated loon (Gavia arctica), also known as the Arctic loon and the black-throated diver, is a migratory aquatic bird found in the Northern Hemisphere, primarily breeding in freshwater lakes in northern Europe and Asia. It winters along sheltered, ice-free coasts of the north-east Atlantic Ocean and the eastern and western Pacific Ocean. This loon was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758 and has two subspecies.

El colimbo ártico (Gavia arctica)​ es una especie de ave gaviforme de la familia Gaviidae propia del norte de Eurasia. Es un ave acuática migratoria que cría en los lagos árticos y semiárticos, y se desplazan a las costas del Atlántico y Pacífico y los lagos del interior del continente para pasar el invierno. Los colimbos árticos son del tamaño de un pato grande, tienen un pico largo y puntiagudo, patas cortas palmeadas y situadas en posición trasera, y la cola corta.
