Pacific Footballfish

Himantolophus, seul représentant de la famille des Himantolophidae, est un genre de poissons abyssaux. En français, les espèces de ce genre font partie des poissons appelées « baudroies » et leur nom anglais signifie quant à lui littéralement « poisson ballon de foot ».

The Pacific footballfish (Himantolophus sagamius) is a species of footballfish (a type of anglerfish) native to the Pacific Ocean. It has a wide range, extending from the coasts of Honshu (Gulf of Sagami) and Hokkaido islands through the Kuril-Kamchatka trough, in the northwest Pacific, to the eastern Pacific from California to Peru. The species is known to live in waters as deep as 3,000 feet (900 m) or 500 fathoms.

Himantolophus sagamius es una especie de pez del género Himantolophus. ​​ Descripción Esta especie cuenta con 5 radios blandos dorsales y 4 radios blandos anales. Las hembras presentan apéndices posterolaterales de 2-4 pares, estos se disponen por debajo de la base del bulbo escal.
