Misty Grouper

Merou est le nom égyptien d'une plante dont on extrayait une huile aromatique, qui était notamment utilisée comme marchandise très prisée dès les premiers temps de l'Égypte antique. La plante à partir de laquelle l'huile était extraite n'est pas claire. Il pourrait s'agir d'une part du cèdre du Liban, d'autre part d'une référence à d'autres conifères asiatiques.

Hyporthodus mystacinus, the misty grouper, black grouper, convict grouper, eightbar grouper or moustache grouper, is a species of marine ray-finned fish, a grouper from the subfamily Epinephelinae which is part of the family Serranidae, which also includes the anthias and sea basses. It is primarily found in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico with populations present around the Galapagos Islands and Central American coastlines. Description Hyporthodus mystacinus has a robust, relatively deep and oval body which is laterally compressed.

Los meros o chernas son un grupo de unos veinte géneros de la subfamilia Epinephelinae de peces perciformes. Presentan un cuerpo robusto, con una cabeza grande en la que resaltan los ojos globosos y unas grandes mandíbulas. Su hábitat son las zonas rocosas de aguas templadas y tropicales, con grandes piedras o cuevas submarinas, en costas que oscilan entre los 4 y los 35 m.
