Lophius americanus, communément appelé la Baudroie d'Amérique, est une espèce de poissons marins de la famille des Lophiidae et qui se rencontre dans l'Atlantique Ouest. Répartition Lophius americanus se rencontre depuis la province de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador au Canada jusqu'au Nord-Est de la Floride aux États-Unis. Toutefois elle se fait rare dans les eaux côtières à partir du Sud de la Caroline du Nord.
Lophius americanus is a goosefish in the family Lophiidae, also called all-mouth, American anglerfish, American monkfish, bellows-fish, devil-fish, headfish, molligut, satchel-mouth, or wide-gape. It is native to the eastern coast of North America. Description The American anglerfish is unique in its appearance and has no relatives with which it can be confused in the areas where it is caught.
Los lófidos (Lophiidae) son una familia de peces lofiformes. Sus especies se distribuyen por todos los océanos del planeta, incluido el mar Mediterráneo. Su nombre procede del griego λόφος, que significa "cresta".
