Mediterranean mussel

La moule méditerranéenne (Mytilus galloprovincialis) est une espèce de mollusques bivalves, de la famille des Mytilidés. Cet animal marin, vit fixé aux rochers dans la zone de balancement des marées où il se nourrit du plancton qu'il filtre dans l'eau. Description La coquille, solide, de couleur bleu-violet et parfois sombre ou brune à la lumière, peut atteindre 140 mm de longueur.

The Mediterranean mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) is a species of bivalve, a marine mollusc in the family Mytilidae. It is an invasive species in many parts of the world, and also an object of aquaculture. Systematics Mytilus galloprovincialis is one of the three principal, closely related species in the Mytilus edulis complex of blue mussels, which collectively are widely distributed on the temperate to subarctic coasts of both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and often are dominant inhabitants on hard substrates of the intertidal and nearshore habitats.

El mejillón mediterráneo​ (Mytilus galloprovincialis), también conocido como mejillón gallego, es una especie de molusco bivalvo de la familia Mytilidae. En Chile se lo conoce como Choro Araucano. ​ Está incluida en la lista 100 de las especies exóticas invasoras más dañinas del mundo​ de la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (IUCN), y en la lista de moluscos invasores en América del Sur.
