Snow Petrel

Le Pétrel des neiges (Pagodroma nivea), Fulmar des neiges ou encore Pagodrome (du grec πάγος (págos), « glace » et δρομάς (dromás), « qui voyage »), est une espèce d'oiseaux marins appartenant à la famille des Procellariidae. Description Cet oiseau mesure 30 à 40 cm pour une masse de 240 à 460 g. Son envergure est comprise entre 75 et 95 cm.

The snow petrel (Pagodroma nivea) is the only member of the genus Pagodroma. It is one of only three birds that have been seen at the Geographic South Pole, along with the Antarctic petrel and the south polar skua, and it has the most southerly breeding sites of any bird, inland in Antarctica. Taxonomy The snow petrel was described in 1777 by the German naturalist Georg Forster in his book A Voyage Round the World.

De largo mide entre 36 y 41 cm y de envergadura alcanza los 76-79 cm.
