Carriker's Speckled Tree-rat

Pattonomys est un genre de rongeurs qui regroupe des rats épineux arboricoles d'Amérique du Sud, de la sous-famille des Echimyinae. La taxinomie de cette famille est en révision et en 2005, Louise Emmons classe cinq espèces dans ce nouveau genre. Ce genre a été nommé ainsi en hommage au mammalogiste américain James L.

The speckled spiny tree-rat (Pattonomys semivillosus), also known as the Colombian speckled tree-rat, is a species of rodent in the family Echimyidae. It is found in the swampy ciénegas of northeastern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela. It can be found in gallery forests, dry forests and mangrove forests.
