Sebastes semicinctus, the halfbanded rockfish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the subfamily Sebastinae, the rockfishes, part of the family Scorpaenidae. It is found in the Eastern Pacific. Taxonomy Sebastes semicinctus was first formally described was first formally described as Sebastodes semicinctus in 1897 by the American ichthyologist Charles Henry Gilbert with the type locality given as the Santa Barbara Channel in California.
