Serranus tigrinus, the harlequin bass, is a species of marine ray-finned fish, a sea bass from the subfamily Serraninae, which is a part of the family Serranidae, which also includes the groupers and the anthias. It can be found in the western Atlantic Ocean, and also in aquarium trades. Description Serranus tigrinus has a laterally compressed elongate body with a pointed snout which is shorter than the diameter of the eye.
