Egyptian Tortoise

Testudo kleinmanni est une espèce de tortues de la famille des Testudinidae. En français elle est appelée Tortue d'Égypte ou Tortue de Kleinmann. Répartition Cette espèce se rencontre en Libye, en Égypte et en Israël.

Kleinmann's tortoise (Testudo kleinmanni), also called commonly the Egyptian tortoise, Leith's tortoise, and the Negev tortoise, is a critically endangered species of cryptodire turtle in the family Testudinidae. The species is native to Libya and possibly extinct in Egypt. The species was once more widespread, but its numbers are now dwindling, and complete extinction in the wild is a looming threat unless more actions are taken to protect this species.

La tortuga egipcia (Testudo kleinmanni) es una especie de tortuga de la familia Testudinidae en grave peligro de extinción que se distribuye por las costas de Libia, Egipto y el sur de Israel (si se considera a la tortuga del Néguev parte de la misma especie). Antiguamente era más abundante, pero en la actualidad sus poblaciones están disminuyendo. La especie se ha extinguido en Egipto, y la extinción global es una amenaza inminente a menos que se adopten medidas para proteger a esta especie.
