Gelada

Le Gélada (Theropithecus gelada) est un primate de la famille des cercopithécidés et seule espèce vivante du genre Theropithecus. Ce grand singe ressemble au babouin et vit sur les hauts plateaux d'Érythrée et en Éthiopie. Le gélada est aussi grand que beaucoup de babouins, il a une face allongée et il est sujet au même dimorphisme sexuel.

The gelada (Theropithecus gelada, Amharic: ጭላዳ, romanized: č̣əlada, Oromo: Jaldeessa daabee), sometimes called the bleeding-heart monkey or the gelada baboon, is a species of Old World monkey found only in the Ethiopian Highlands, living at elevations of 1,800–4,400 m (5,900–14,400 ft) above sea level. El gelada (Theropithecus gelada) es una especie de primate catarrino de la familia Cercopithecidae endémica de las tierras altas de Etiopía. ​ Los geladas pesan entre 13 y 20 kilogramos, y al igual que los babuinos, son terrestres y pasan el tiempo alimentándose en las praderas. Algunos autores incluyen el gelada dentro del género Papio, pero desde 1979 se le ha incluido en otro género separado, Theropithecus.
