Southern Three-banded Armadillo

The southern three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus), also known as La Plata three-banded armadillo or Azara's domed armadillo, is an armadillo species from South America. It is found in parts of northern Argentina, southwestern Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia, at elevations from sea level to 770 m (2,530 ft). The southern three-banded armadillo and the other member of the genus Tolypeutes, the Brazilian three-banded armadillo, are the only species of armadillos capable of rolling into a complete ball to defend themselves.

Le Tatou à trois bandes du Sud (Tolypeutes matacus) est une espèce de tatou originaire d'Amérique du Sud. Il a été décrit par Anselme Gaëtan Desmarest en 1804. Il est appelé Quirquincho Bola ou Mataco en Argentine.

Tolypeutes matacus, comúnmente conocido como Corechi, Mataco Bola, Quirquincho Bola, o Tatú Bolita, es una especie de armadillo que pertenece al género Tolypeutes. ​ Es nativo de Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia y Paraguay. ​ Es una de sólo dos especies de armadillo (el otro es Tolypeutes tricinctus) que puede arrollarse en una bola.
