Central American Silky Anteater

The silky anteater, also known as the pygmy anteater, has traditionally been considered a single species of anteater, Cyclopes didactylus, in the genus Cyclopes, the only living genus in the family Cyclopedidae. Found in southern Mexico, and Central and South America, it is the smallest of all known anteaters. It has nocturnal habits and appears to be completely arboreal; its hind feet are highly modified for climbing.

Exclusivement arboricole, il a une queue préhensile. El hormiguero pigmeo centroamericano (Cyclopes dorsalis), conocido también como tapacara, guioncito, ceibita, hormiguero sedoso, osito perezoso o flor de balsa, es una especie de la familia Cyclopedidae, que se encuentra en el sur de México, América Central y el noroeste de América del Sur al occidente de los Andes. ​ Descripción Su longitud total alcanza entre 35,5 y 44 cm, de los cuales la cola tiene entre 17 y 22 cm. Pesa entre 175 y 255 g.
