Western Hoolock Gibbon

Le Gibbon hoolock occidental (Hoolock hoolock) est une espèce de primates asiatiques de la famille des hylobatidés. Les gibbons ont récemment connu d'importants changements taxinomiques et le houlock occidental, considéré comme une sous-espèce (Bunopithecus hoolock hoolock), a été élevé au rang d'espèce à part entière (Hoolock hoolock). Le nouveau genre Hoolock comprend ainsi deux membres : Hoolock hoolock et Hoolock leuconedys (le Gibbon hoolock oriental), séparés dans leur répartition géographique par le fleuve Chindwin.

The western hoolock gibbon (Hoolock hoolock) is a primate from the gibbon family, Hylobatidae. The species is found in Assam, Mizoram, and Meghalaya in India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar west of the Chindwin River. Classification Mootnick and Groves stated that hoolock gibbons do not belong in the genus Bunopithecus, and placed them in a new genus, Hoolock.

El gibón hoolock occidental (Hoolock hoolock) es una Especie de primate hominoideo de la familia Hylobatidae. La especie se encuentra en Assam, Bangladés y en Birmania al este del río Chindwin. Clasificación Mootnick y Groves​ establecieron que el género Bunopithecus no era válido, y lo ubicaron en un nuevo género, Hoolock.
