Sunda Porcupine

Hystrix javanica, est une espèce de mammifères rongeurs de la famille des Hystricidae. Ce porc-épic est endémique d'Indonésie. Cette espèce a été décrite pour la première fois en 1823 par le zoologiste français Frédéric Cuvier (1773-1838), frère du célèbre naturaliste Georges Cuvier.

The Sunda porcupine also known as Javan porcupine (Hystrix javanica) is a species of rodent in the family Hystricidae. It is endemic to Indonesia. Due to the popularity of the hunting and consumption of the Sunda porcupine as an aphrodisiac, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Indonesia has listed this species as a protected animal as of June 2018.

El puercoespín de Java o de la Sonda (Hystrix javanica) es una especie de roedor histricomorfo de la familia Hystricidae. ​ Es endémico de Indonesia, donde se encuentra en las islas de Java, Bali, Sumbawa, Flores, Lombok, Madura y Tonahdjampea. ​ No se reconocen subespecies.
