Sailfish

Le voilier de I'Indo-Pacifique (Istiophorus platypterus), aussi appelé espadon-voilier ou empereur éventail, est une espèce de poissons vivant dans les océans Indien et Pacifique. Il est de couleur bleu nuit, et possède des stries verticales sur les flancs. Il est considéré comme étant le plus rapide des poissons.

The sailfish is one or two species of marine fish in the genus Istiophorus, which belong to the family Istiophoridae (marlins). They are predominantly blue to gray in color and have a characteristically large dorsal fin known as the sail, which often stretches the entire length of the back. Another notable characteristic is the elongated rostrum (bill) consistent with that of other marlins and the swordfish, which together constitute what are known as billfish in sport fishing circles.

El pez vela del Pacífico (Istiophorus platypterus) habita en el Océano Índico y el Océano Pacífico por lo que también se le conoce como pez vela del Pacífico y del Índico y pez vela oriental. Es una de las dos especies de peces vela junto con el pez vela del Atlántico. Se considera que el pez vela del Atlántico es de menor tamaño.
