Le margay, dit aussi chat-tigre, chat sauvage de la Nouvelle Espagne (Leopardus wiedii, anciennement Felis wiedii), est un petit félin rencontré dans les forêts tropicales et les milieux broussailleux d'Amérique centrale et du Sud. Caractéristiques Le margay pèse de 2 à 4 kg en moyenne. Les mâles mesurent de 50 à 100 cm et leur queue atteint 50 cm.
The margay (Leopardus wiedii) is a small wild cat native to Mexico, Central and South America. A solitary and nocturnal felid, it lives mainly in primary evergreen and deciduous forest. Until the 1990s, margays were hunted for the wildlife trade, at which point the killing of the species was outlawed in most countries; however, years of persecution resulted in a notable population decrease.
El margay (Leopardus wiedii), también conocido como maracayá, yaguatirica, caucel o gato tigre o tigrillo, es una especie de mamífero carnívoro de la familia Felidae ampliamente distribuido por América, desde México (con un registro en Texas, EE. UU.) hasta el sur de Sudamérica con poblaciones en Uruguay, Norte de Argentina y Sur de Brasil.
