Lethrinus variegatus, the slender emperor or variegated emperor, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Lethrinidae, the emperors and emperor breams. This fish has a wide Indo-Pacific distribution. Taxonomy Lethrinus variegatus was first formally described in 1830 by the French zoologist Achille Valenciennes with its type locality given as Massawa in Eritrea.
