Eastern Black Swallowtail

Le Papillon du céleri (Papilio polyxenes), est une espèce d'insectes lépidoptères qui appartient à la famille des Papilionidae, à la sous-famille des Papilioninae et au genre Papilio. Dénomination Il a été nommé Papilio polyxenes par Johan Christian Fabricius en 1775. Noms vernaculaires En anglais, le Papillon du céleri est nommé Black Swallowtail, Eastern Black Swallowtail ou American Swallowtail.

Papilio polyxenes, the (eastern) black swallowtail, American swallowtail or parsnip swallowtail, is a butterfly found throughout much of North America. An extremely similar-appearing species, Papilio joanae, occurs in the Ozark Mountains region, but it appears to be closely related to Papilio machaon, rather than P. polyxenes.
