European Grayling

Thymallus thymallus (nom latin tiré de l'odeur de thym que ce poisson dégage), l'Ombre ou Ombre commun ou Ombre de rivière, est une espèce de poissons d'eau douce ostéichthyens de la famille des salmonidés, et de la sous-famille des Thymallinae. L'ombre commun vit dans les eaux fraîches et profondes avec fond sableux. Il préfère les zones bien oxygénées.

Thymallus thymallus, harjus, the grayling or European grayling, is a species of freshwater fish in the salmon family Salmonidae. It is the only species of the genus Thymallus (the graylings) native to Europe, where it is widespread from the United Kingdom and France to the Ural Mountains in Russia, and Balkans on the south-east, but does not occur in the southern parts of the continent. It was introduced to Morocco in 1948, but it does not appear to have become established there.

Los tímalos son el género Thymallus, el único de la subfamilia Thymallinae, con especies propias de agua dulce. El nombre del género deriva del griego θύμαλλος , que es el nombre que tenía este pez. Se distribuyen por ríos del norte de Eurasia.
