Hosting

The website and its self-hosted audience measurement service run on Railway infrastructure. Analytics data remains in the PostgreSQL services associated with the Picchu project.

Intellectual property

The Picchu name, visual identity, original copy and application elements are protected. Third-party wildlife content remains subject to the licence and attribution shown on its profile.

Liability

Picchu provides exploration and identification guidance. It does not replace expert advice, an official map or instructions from authorities. Check trail conditions and respect wildlife.

Terms of use — service and access

Picchu provides tools for exploration, maps and animal identification from photos or bird songs. Local features remain available according to the data and models already installed; account services, downloads, online saving and sharing require a connection.

Guest mode supports local saving. Signing in enables private account services, including synchronization of media you confirm and transfer of guest saves. Data handling is described in the privacy policy.

Terms of use — photos, recordings and permissions

You choose imported media, the audio passage to analyze and the species to confirm. An AI suggestion alone does not validate an AniDex entry. After confirmation, photos and audio passages are saved locally and, with an account, synced to its private storage.

Camera, microphone, add-only Photos and location permissions are requested for the relevant feature. You can decline or revoke a permission and use other available features, such as importing a file instead of using the microphone or saving without precise coordinates.

Terms of use — content and third-party rights

Only import and save photos, videos and sounds you have the right to use. Respect copyright, other people’s rights and wildlife. Avoid retaining private conversations or personal information accidentally captured with a bird song.

Private media is not made public by synchronization. Review route data and photos before publishing an export: anyone with its link can then view them.

Terms of use — pending saves and deletion

An offline save is not yet a remote copy. The persistent queue resumes when the app regains network access; keep your local data until synchronization if you want to restore it on another device. One passage associated with several birds uses a shared file.

You can remove a bird from a recording, delete the entire recording, delete a photo or delete your account in the app. Offline deletions reach the server after synchronization. Photos copies and imported source files are managed separately.

Terms of use — identification and purchases

Photo and audio results are suggestions and may be incorrect or incomplete. Check the species before confirming it. Results do not guarantee the safety of an animal, food or route.

Bird song identification is free after installing its model. Any paid offers, prices and durations are presented before purchase. App Store purchases and subscriptions are managed by Apple under its terms and applicable standard licence. Deleting a Picchu account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
