Giant Anteater

Le tamanoir, également nommé fourmilier géant ou grand fourmilier (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), est une espèce de mammifères de la famille des Myrmecophagidae. C'est la seule espèce du genre Myrmecophaga. C'est un grand mammifère insectivore natif de l'Amérique centrale et du Sud.

The giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) is an insectivorous mammal native to Central and South America. It is the largest of the four living species of anteaters, which are classified with sloths in the order Pilosa. The only extant member of the genus Myrmecophaga, the giant anteater is mostly terrestrial, in contrast to other living anteaters and sloths, which are arboreal or semiarboreal.

El oso hormiguero gigante,​ también llamado oso palmero,​ oso bandera, tamandúa bandera, yurumí o ñurumí,​ es una especie de mamífero piloso de la familia de los mirmecofágidos que se encuentra en América Central y América del Sur. Es la única especie viviente del género Myrmecophaga y la más grande de oso hormiguero. Taxonomía El oso hormiguero gigante recibió su nomenclatura binomial de Carlos Linneo en 1758, en la décima edición de su Systema naturae.
