Prothonotary Warbler

La Paruline orangée (Protonotaria citrea) est une espèce de passereaux de la famille des Parulidae, l'unique représentante du genre Protonotaria. Taxonomie La paruline orangée a été décrite par Buffon en 1779 dans Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux,à partir d'un spécimen recueilli en Louisiane. Buffon lui a donné le nom de figuier protonotaire.

The prothonotary warbler (Protonotaria citrea) is a small songbird of the New World warbler family. It is named for its plumage, which resembles the yellow robes once worn by papal clerks (named prothonotaries) in the Roman Catholic Church. The prothonotary warbler is the only member of the genus Protonotaria and the only eastern warbler that nests in natural or artificial cavities.
